Ben Sands

(10.5.08) Ben Sands

A member of the famous Sands Family, Ben  hails from Newry, on the East coast of Ireland, where  his family has a long history of music, singing, and storytelling. Ben's a regular visitor and a great friend and we're delighted to hear the news that his song “We all Need a Hug” has been picked up by Cusson’s Imperial Leather, the Soap people, for use in TV and Cinema commercials in Ireland and the UK.
Watch out for it!

Dana & Susan Robinson
(17.5.08) Dana & Susan Robinson

Dana & Susan Robinson play traditonal American music, as well as their own material, with 'elegant simplicity', on guitar, fiddle and banjo. They've been visiting us for some years now and we we're very happy to welcome them back.

Tom and Gren

(24.5.08)  Tom Kitching & Gren Bartley

This is the first appearance at the Davy Lamp for two young performers from Loughborough. Tom and Gren play a fascinating mix of songs from many sources and have recently been signed by Fellside records, A young folk award finalist in 2003, Tom plays fiddle and Gren specialises in finger style guitar with great aplomb. Together, they're very impressive.

George Papavgeris

(31.5.08) George Papavgeris

Yet another first appearance. George was born in Salonika but has lived in England for many years. He has wide musical tastes and is fast making a name for himself as a highly accomplished songwriter.

Harvey Andrews
(7.6.08) Harvey Andrews

Harvey Andrews was born in Birmingham and began his singer/songwriter career in 1964 when he was paid ten shillings for singing three of his songs for the first time in a folk club. Since then he has written countless somgs,  many of which have been recorded by other artists.  He's a consummate performer with a wonderful voice and an entertaining manner onstage.

Tannahill Weavers

(14.6.08) Jeff Warner

With warmth, humour and understated scholarship, Jeff Warner connects audiences with the music and everyday lives of 19th century people. He presents musical traditions from the Outer Banks fishing villages of North Carolina, to the lumber camps of the Adirondack Mountains and the whaling ports of New England. Jeff played for us for the first time last year and charmed everyone with his unpretentious style and wonderful talent.
