How to find the club

From A1(M) (South)
Leave the motorway at Junction 64 (signposted Washington and Birtley A195) - this is immediately before Washington Services. Go past the exits for Districts 5 and 6, then straight over the roundabout (underneath Washington Highway). Turn right at the next roundabout (signposted Fatfield) and then take the first left. The entrance to Washington Arts Centre is immediately on your right.

From A1 (North)
Leave the motorway at Junction 64 (signposted Washington (South) A195) - this is the first exit after the road has become a motorway, and is initially the same slip road as for Washington Services. After the Services follow the road round to the left, then keep right to avoid the exit to District 5. Proceed as above.


From A19 (South)
Take the A183 signposted Chester-le-Street. Keep going until you reach the large roundabout in the middle of Shiny Row. Take the third exit, A182 signposted Washington. Stay on this dual carriageway down the hill, over the river, then take the exit marked District 13. Turn right at the end of the slip road (which takes you back under the A182), then first left (signposted Fatfield Village Centre). You will see the Arts Centre on your right after 0.5 miles. Turn right immediately after it, then right again into the entrance. Alternatively, you can stay on the A19 until you have crossed the river, keeping left to take the A1231 (on which you turn left), then proceed as below.

From A19 (North)
Take the exit for the A1231 (after Nissan but before crossing the river), signposted Sunderland and Gateshead, and turn right, signposted Gateshead. Take the exit marked Gateshead (East) A195, and turn left at the roundabout. Go straight over 3 roundabouts, following signs for A195 Durham, then turn left at the next roundabout, signposted Fatfield. Take the first turning left, and the entrance to Washington Arts Centre is immediately on your right.

Once you're there
The Folk Club is held in the Low Barn. This is through the main front entrance of the building (the left hand of the two doors), and then round to the left past reception. If you can find your way round Washington you'll have no trouble locating the right room once you're there!
