Roy
Bailey has been singing songs of social justice, dissent
and hope for nigh on fifty years and still has one of the best voices
on the folk scene.
With a unique set of songs, Roy's repertoire also reflects
his love of traditional songs and the stories they tell. Roy has worked
with many different people throughout his career, including Martin
Carthy, Tony Benn, Billy Bragg, Utah Phillips, etc., and counts
many well respected people, from all walks of life, among his
supporters. Roy will be filling the guest spot at the Davy Lamp
in the Arts Centre, Washington on Saturday, 6th March. He'll be
very ably supported on the night by Kate Young, an exciting young
Singer/songwriter and fiddle player, currently studying on the Folk
Degree in Newcastle. Should be a great night!
Barrie
and Ingrid are harmony singers from Newcastle upon Tyne. Although they
sing mostly unaccompanied, Barrie also adds concertina or guitar
accompaniment to some of their songs. They have been singing together
for a long time and it shows. Their singing is mainly
traditional with both serious and humorous content. They also perform
lots of Barrie’s own songs and sing in close harmony with
some lovely arrangements. You can see the duo on Sunday, 7th March at
the Rugby Club in Westoe.
